When God Says Wait

There are days when waiting is easier said than done. There have been times in my life that I have fought against "the wait". I would decide that "I" needed to do something different, something more productive, something that wasn't "sitting and waiting".

As I have grown over the years, God has used seasons of waiting to teach me and mold me. As much as I would like to say that I have arrived, I haven't.

Right now, my family is in another season of waiting. This one is harder than those past. Our current location has given us an isolation feel. We are 1,000 miles away from family. There are no friends, there are no like-minded churches.

It's hard not to feel forgotten.

We are waiting for a church to step up and decide to sponsor us so we can do a new church work in a town 2 1/2 hours from us. Problem is, it isn't a metropolis and many churches only think that new churches should start in big cities. Many, but not all.

However, we have to wait. Wait for the right church to call. Wait for God to open hearts and doors. Wait.

There is a peace about the situation that only comes from God, but I still struggle with the flesh. (Tweet This)

 

 

And the flesh cries out! I miss church. And church people. And my husband who is gone a lot because he had to get a secular job. It cries out for the loneliness me and my children often feel.

It's all too easy to fall into a depressed state. I begin to realize how those in the Bible felt when they cried out to the Lord. The devil works hard on those who are waiting. He tries to convince them that God has left them and that nobody cares and even, perhaps, tries to convince them that they aren't doing God's work.

When God says wait we can do one of two things. We can wait and pray. Or we can become depressed and feel forsaken. (Tweet This)

Truth is, when God says wait it isn't going to be easy. It's going to require daily fighting in the form of prayer and Bible reading. It's not for the faint of heart. I truly believe that God teaches us things during seasons of waiting, but it's going to require us to find out what they are!

 

 

My dear friends, if you find yourself in a season of wait, like my family has, do not despair. Trust in the Lord. Rest in His refuge. Pour your heart out to Him for He hears your cry. (Tweet This)
